The Orgin Of U.S National Parks
National parks in the United States were initially established by Ulysses S. Grant and the US Congress, with the primary goal of preserving natural landscapes and wildlife for the benefit and enjoyment of the public.
The National Park Service, created by President Woodrow Wilson, in 1916, and was later established to manage and administer these parks. In the 1930’s under president Franklin Roosevelt was a time of major expansion of national parks added to the system.
National parks are a great type of trip to connect with nature and have fun with family. The way my family likes to travel to National Parks is to choose 2-3 parks close by for the same trip, with a duration of 7-10 days. We usually hike around 5-10 miles per day. It is very important to plan out your day, calculate the amount of water needed (we like to carry Camelbacks a water backpack) and plan if you are bringing your own food or if you are going to stop at a restaurant. National Parks usually offer may options for dining.
Depending on the park your going to, it is important to be aware of wildlife. That is why we always stop at the Visitor’s Center where they would have alerts or warnings for any dangerous animals like bears. For example at Grand Teton Park, they recommend visitors to carry bear spray (which can be purchased at the Visitor Center).
